Ok so the boss works in a fruit and veggie shop and has access to free not quite right left overs.today she brought home two boxes full of baby spinach and a heap of leb cucumbers. So has anyone froze these before and what other goodies can be frozen and feed out again from a fruit and veg shop. And what process is needed to ensue good quality stuff that the birds will still eat.I was also thinking of a quick dip in virkon s before freezing so it lasts all day when put out ????

Spinach gets a quick dip in hot water to kill any funky stuff and then dipped into ice water , blotted dry on paper towel and frozen ..Ice cubes might help here for portion control.

Leb cucumber hmmm maybe someone else can help with that one .

Other vegies will get the same treatment , should not need Virkon s if you blanch everything in boiling water but that's up to you .

Carrots , corn , beans , peas any of them will freeze well.

Sweet potato , pumpkin best cooked and mashed then frozen .

Leafy veg same as spinach .

Hope this helps .

It will be worth it Gomer .
The spinach doesn't have to be bone dry or you will get freezer burn .
Just blot off the excess .
