We need photos to see what we are looking at please.
There have been cases of purplish chest moulting in to white afterwards and vice versa.
Pics!

Looks to me like a juvenile moulting into adult plumage to me. It's not the white breasted mutant you hoped for but it may be split you'll have a better idea if you breed it to a true white breasted one or another split and then record the proportion of WB:PB progeny. Not great on Gouldian genetics but assuming that WB is recessice autosomal mutation then a pair of splits will give 2/3 normal phenotype (1 normal :2 splits) with only 1/3 WB phenotype. If it's a split to a WB phenotype then 50% will be WB and 50% will appear normal phenotype (all splits).

Edit- Going back to this I see it was Harvey's photos not yours - sorry about that Samantha

Hey Ill try to post some pics tonight, but he was not colouring up at all,
He already had all his coloured feathers and was very clear white, now his breast is all splotchy with purple feathers and each day he is purpling up more and more, Im not fussed that he is not white as I love him anyway, just didnt know what the heck was going on!

Sounds intriguing, looking forward to seeing a photo. 9Magenta recently had a photo of a bird with white breast and some light purple patches.

I wonder if it's a lilac breasted as that is a mix between purple and white breasted, I have a couple of Lilac breasted that seem to change between white breast and lilac breast depending on the moult/season.
Post a picture and we can have a look.
