What painted finches eats??

Does anybody know what i sould feed my painted finches.I have them three weeks now and they only eats seeds(the common seeds for finches).What can i give them more??What else can eat for heavng a good health.

Mine eat a home made finch mix , lots of greens , carrots sliced with a potato peeler and the odd bit of madiera cake . I cant get them to eat fruit and have given up on mealworms till breeding season now.
