I find my zebra finches will steal nesting material from canary nests. Therefore, I breed my canaries in cabinets away from the finches.
I hope your babies continue to do well.

The chicks appear to both be growing, and the smaller chick has food in its crop.
Just make sure that the sameller chick does have food in its crop in the evening, and it should be okay. With only 2 chicks in the nest, it should get enough food.

Well done Harvey, at least the little one has an older more feathered sibling to cuddle up to.

Congratulations. It is great to see them sitting on the edge of the nest.
I am going well (for me) this year. I have 4 young in the aviary. 3 just fledged. another 3 will fledge in a few days. and two tiny ones.
One pair I returned to the aviary as they had 2 nests so far (one sccessful - 2 fledged - and one not), were nest building in a finch box and mating this afternoon.
Merry Christmas.
MadOzzie.

Congratulations. My young hen has just decided to build a new nest in the bottlebrush I just hung from the ceiling, where I can't see into the nest.

That is a great sight, and your persistence paid off.
Great learning experience and I am sure that you will look back in years to come and remember that 1 successful nest makes up for all the unsuccessful ones.
I am so happy that you did end up with 2 chicks.
