We bought a pair of split blue gouldians on the weekend and the boys breast is quite pale in comparison to others..

Do you think he is a lilac breast and we've just gotten lucky, or could it be wishful thinking?? :)

Here he is next to the other SFYB male in the aviary...

This is his backside..

And this is him next to his blackheaded girlfriend..

Suggestions as to what is happening if he's not lilac breast?? :)

Looks lilac to me. If you like the lilac you'll need a wb or another lilac for the hen.

As I was discussing with someone before, is a female lilac just even lighter than usual????

Looks very similar to my lilac breasted cock only mine has a GB, I've put mine up with a white breast but not by my choice so hoping to see some lilac babies.

This seems to be popping up a bit. I reckon i have some Lilac in the Blues i bought for last season. Definately can see the difference in some of the chests.

Makes you wonder...I have a YH PC/w GB hen normal colour purple on the chest. Paired with a split blue cock bird and some of the hens chests are really pale.

He is very light on the chest. I only seem to have it on a couple of Hens. Lucky everything this season is WB to PB/WB pairings anyway for me.

The cock bird is a normal purple and all the cocks produced are normal, just the hens have the difference.
Just been out and took a few more pics.
The cock at the bottom of the pic is the father of all the other birds in this pic. The hens are sisters from a pairing with one hen, the young cock had a different mother. She can be seen in the nesting box he is stood on, she is a split blue and has a normal coloured chest.

Same two hens again, same young cock on box 16. The not quite coloured up cock on box 15 is brother to the young cock on box 16

Father and daughters hatched from the same clutch when paired with a YH PC/w GB hen (1st pic in a my previous post.)

The young cocks haven't got any full sisters, and the hens haven't got any full brothers so I have nothing to compare them to.
Cant get over the difference in the chest colour.

Is there any way the cock could be split white breast? And the girls be poor white breasteds? Just thinking here.
