Hi guys,
Thought joining this forum could be a good way to learn about finch keeping.
When my new aviary goes up I hope to start breeding Gouldians and Red Brows.
I also have an interest in Canaries and European finches such as the European Goldfinch, Chaffinch and European Linnet.
Does anyone know reputable canary breeders in the Wollongong/Sydney area? I am interested in both song and colour birds?
Also does anyone know where I may get a pair of Grey Singing Finches?
Thanks Guys

Hi and welcome.
Gry singers, good luck, from what little I know there are only two or three pairs left in the country.
Much the same with linnets, and to a lesser extent chaffinchEs.
sorry to rain on your parade

Welcome to the Forum. Remember that Canaries and most of the Euorpean finches you mention can hybridize. A very undesirable situation. So need to be housed seperately. But Canaries and Gouldians can and are frequently, hapily housed together.

Thanks guys!
I did have the opportunity to buy chaffinches last year for $ 600 (cant remember is that was per bird or for a pair). Linnets and grey singers as mentioned earlier are near impossible to find.
I look forward to trying though!
I think gouldians will be a good start for me. there are a lot of reputable breeders down here in Wollongong.
