After many problems last year with getting my gouldians to breed this year seems like it will be very prosperous. I now have 6 breeding pairs and 3 currently nesting and the other 3 pairs getting there including my pastel blue and splt blue hen. I had one egg hatch yesterday and have about another 12 eggs to hatch in the next few days. I've noticed that the clutches have been very large which is the reason for the amount of eggs ready to hatch. I'm worried about the one yellow back pair who have 9 fertile eggs and I don't expect them to be able to look after them all or maybe they can??

Awesome FM .
I dont know what to suggest re the 9 eggs , spose just leave them be and see how they go , I guess to expect 9 would be a bit over enthusiastic but if you get half to the perch then youve still made headway .

Hows the Aussies going ?

If you have a good pair with the large clutch & plenty of good tucker during rearing they may surprise you. I've found with most larger clutches even with good parents that the largest 5 or 6 young are generally as good as any young Gouldians reared but you often end up with one or two runts. When they are at pin-feather stage if there are say 6 big young & a weedy little runt, I'll ditch the runt for the sake of ensuring the best young get a slightly better chance of being finished off successfully. The runts rarely mature into anything worthwhile anyway.
If you have a smaller clutch or 2 at the same stage you could farm some eggs out so each clutch has 5 or 6 eggs to avoid runts.

Aussies are going good one pair is back to the nest again after the first clutch being a dud and the other pair had eggs but we left to the coast for a few days and had people look after all the birds and the mum found her way into the next aviary down as they are all connected so I had to get rid of those eggs, hopefully that pair goes back to the nest very soon.

good to hear mate!

fingers crossed for some successful clutches, a pair of my gouldians about 2 seasons ago now, raised a clutch of 8 from 8 eggs, with no runts that i could pick, they all fledged the same day and could all fly.

so see how many hatch first, as some could be infertile.

and like others have said, provide lots off good tucker and they should do well.

Excellent news.
Ive got a nest of 5 and another nest of 4 at least, and a couple more nests of what look to be fertile eggs in the big aviary, but nothing from the blues....yet.

3 out of the nine eggs have hatched today and the rest still look fertile. All together I now have 5 hatched babies between 2 pairs and still another 9 to go.
