Well it had to happen eventually but did anyone notice that PETA have taken to the courts in the USA to explore the possibility that the keeping of animals is akin to slavery and is therefore unconstutional? Even PETA are certain that their case can't be won this time but the fact that the judge didn't instantly dismiss the case and has retired to consider a finding is worrying. Eventually they will get a sympathetic judge (& every bench has a Pat O'shane) so a president like that would have major implication for all pet and livestock owners, maybe even governing the use of household insecticides and at it absurd conclusion everyone that has an immune system!

That's ridiculous. How do they expect any scientific or medical progress to be made if we don't use animals for testing. While I am against animal testing generally (e.g. cosmetics), and believe that replacements should be made where possible, it is sometimes necessary.
What about our beloved pets? I doubt my dog would take too kindly to being 'set free'!

So all domestic animals should be "set free" to live shorter less healthy lives in the "wild"? If we did that to our children we would be in trouble. :purplex:

Keeping of animals is like slavery?? There are times when I'm more inclined to feel like the slave as I rush to attend to the dog whenever she whinges at the door....
