Yeah I understand i shouldn't have taken their word for it .... i didn't even go to the shop to pick them up as i was unable to get there .... i paid $65 for the white breasted MALE and $45 for the black-headed female ... I'll just have to track down a male or two i guess ,,,, just very disappointed

This is a very bad picture of a fairly good RH white chest male gouldian. it shows the colour alright though.

do you know how hard it is at times to get spare hens , count your self lucky and get 2 cheap males from a private seller and your already in front. Some times it happens it just all boils down to inexpirence.....pete

I'm with poitta and matcho. Don't be disappointed. Count your good luck and ask the local breeders if they can supply a cock or 2. Much more likely they will be able to accomodate you now that you don;t need hens.
And that is a very nice cock you have there Jay.

Go tell them about it to start with
and then I would suggest waiting until the sale season starts. Normal gouldians cost anything from $5 to $40 each depending on seller and condition of bird at the bird sales. It's a great way to meet people, plus if you ever lose it you ahve the contact details in case they have another spare.
they'll be fine to wait a few weeks I'm sure.
The canberra sale is in early march, the young sale is on the 26th of this month, and I can guarantee that if there are gouldians there they will be better quality than most pet shops, and at better prices too.
