No long claws doesn't mean sick bird, long claws will be a hazard due to them getting caught on wire, branches and perchs. When you have a chance catch the bird and trim nails back but not to the dark line in the nail as this is a blood vessel, best to cut about 3mm past the blood vessel.

To help keep claws trim put in a selection of natural perching in different sizes. Will help to wear the claws down and exercise the birds feet.
