I don't do Facebook so look forward to any pics you can post here. Have however told my avid Facebooking offspring about the site and expect they will go see what you are up to.

Black-Winged Stilts pics as requested. I will put together something on the Skinks next as we have some shots of the enclosure build too.

Bee Eaters for tintola
Food - Meat mix
1kg roo mince
2 cups egg & biscuit
20 g D nutrical powder
1 take away container fly pupae
2 mashed hard boiled eggs
Insectivore mix optional
Insects- mealies, baby roaches, and ant flting insects caught under the night light traps. Lots of.
Wombaroo nectar is also available in the aviary but im not sure Bee Eaters take any.

The keepers say they did nothing special to breed the BE`s. The soil is our red sandy type and when the birds start scratching around the keepers wait until one hole seems to be favoured. They keep the soil damp around the area but not wet or saturated. This gives the soil some stability and the burrow in the aviary went down about a metre. They are suggesting if the burrow is in the open be wary of its vertical angle due to heavy rains. The BE`s basically just dug a hole in the floor. They have had pairs do the same in the holding aviary by simply mouding up sand in one area. I would say the birds bred not long after the wild ones turned up this year and they have commented wild caught birds dont do well, in fact most dont get the idea of food bowl. let me know if im missing what you were after Tintola.

That's exactly what I wanted to know, thanks DB. Do the BEs touch / eat any of the prepared mixes or only live food. Mine will only eat live food and thawed crickets and cockroaches.

Quite sure they eat the meat mix Tintola. Pretty sure we started with nestlings , much easier to adapt them on to different foods and part of the reason why we dont bring in any adults.
