So therefore if NPWS are outside and ask to see what birds you have in your possession and don't have a license where do you stand? If it is in the negative they have the right to take possession of the birds...correct? Dead set opens a can of worms. Do NPWS or whoever is responsible for the monitoring of the possession of the birds that require a license have any input into these sales and do they attend to check the records of the sellers/breeders? I know they have bigger fish to fry, but just wondering.

Was the Ecky with the Orange head one of yours Harvey ?

Matcho they were at one sale that I know of as the club announced that the blah blah were in attendance that day . So they would be at least randomly policing the sales I reckon .

So Harvey,
That was you with the Javas? Only ones I saw in the whole place. Must admit the White breast Black Head goulds had me perplexed not just in your display but others because I just couldn't tell hens from cocks. All I saw had white beaks with red tips, no grey colouring at all, all had same head and belly colours so to me I couldn't make a call.

Hi Matcho,

We always invite NPWS to attend the sale.
This (I think from a bad memory) is the first time they didn't personally attend the sale - although they did come and put up a display stand.

In the past they have checked the conditions of birds in cages and suggested some birds be moved to larger (or more appriopriate cages) which we ask the owners to do.
Since then we are a little more strict of cages conditions of birds on display and haven't had any comments from NPWS for a number of years.

It takes 2 to "tango" - a buyer who isn't buying a standard budgie, cockatiel, zeb or canary should research what regulations exist.
And, buyers who know - should know better.

I have heard that in general NPWS have been more active over the last 5-6 months with a number of people being called or having inspections carried out (the staff doing the inspections still can't seem to determine a native from a foreign bird! - but that's a rant for another day.

Hi Jusdeb,

I heard (maybe true - maybe not) that the orange head on the ecki was to do with diet issues (or possible liver problems) - so be careful.

Ray,
It was just a general question and no criticism was meant. As a bird sale "virgin" it is something I wont forget  Just thought it a bit strange as my local produce store wont sell birds that require licence unless you produce. Anyhow had a great time, congrats to you and those that put it together.

Yes Ray I wasnt going to buy it , the feathers were too lose and that head colour kinda sent warning signs of a diet or organ issue . I did keep going back though as it had me buggered why it was so different .

Wish I had asked some questions now being the curious type ...

Did however put the question out there last night in another site and yes all agreed liver , malnitrition or another diet problem however a freind of the seller said they "all" moult out to be normal :?: :?:
