I am most upset by that statement :irked: . . since it is all my own handiwork

I used to watch where the RC's tried hopelessly to pile up their cotton wool (natural fibre only), and would 'build' a nest for them using coconut fibre, a bit of fine grass, and the c-w in that old recycled canary cup

They usually added nothing or precious little and almost always accepted my humble offering

I thought that I did pretty well . . for a bloke with no training and no diagram . . and THEY must have as well :soppy:

As far as I can remember the Red Crested have always built in dry brush or brush roll and their nests have been sort of untidy on
the outside but very well lined with coconut fibre. My last comment after they fledged was no rain for 48 hours.
Now 30 hours on we have had 75mm rain every thing is awash, but so far so good as the female is still going back and forth for Meal Worms.
As far as I can work out she has the chick/s nestled under a large grass clump. It is now clear skies so hopefully no more rain through the night.
I have some photos of the nest site etc and I will try and get them on to the Forum.
The photo of the Red Crested is that current and what area are you from. You may be a possible swap later for less related birds.
