Just a quick question regarding plummies, as a pair of ours are sitting but we're unsure of how close we can get to their nest..
There are a couple of boxes nearby that we like to check now n then, but we don't want to disturb them if they're panicky parents and likely to abandon...
They're very flighty, and easily abandon unfortunately. Maybe once they have bred a few times it would be okay, but first nest especially I would stay well clear.
yep what spanna said.
If they jet out the nest real quick check the floor , I have had bubs dragged out the nest. From my experiance there is only one worse than them and thats blue face parrot finches for quick nest evacuations. They may get used to you but dont make eye contact........ pete
Great advice from spanna and poitta, especially about eye contact,if you do get close to the nest make sure you look away from it,lost a few nests before i realized what was happening, they will look you right in the eye and then abandon the nest, hope this helps garyh
