Just a query on where everyone places their Feed Trays / Hoppers / Grass seed stems for various species.

through trial and error I have found that my gouldians prefer trays / hoppers at mid height of the avairy and enjoy seeding grass higher still (mind you they love bok choy etc at ground level.

Whereas my Ruddies prefer their seed trays close to the ground and have similar choice for the positioning of their seeding grasses.

The Zebs, though will attack all forms of food at any height or position.

Cheers

I have finches, doves and quail, so they're pretty varied.
I have one at waist height which the doves and most finches use, and one on the floor which obviously the quail uses, but usually the jacarinis and painteds join him. I only put soaked seed in the top one though so the painteds pay regular visits to make sure they get their share.
I put my seeding grass stems all over, near perches, on the open wire for the parrot finches, or in a container on the ground for the doves and quail to pick at.
So in short, I have a waist height tray with their seed bowl, soaked seed, occasional bird cake whipped up by my master chef Crazy Cuban, seeding grass heads and cuttlefish. Then there's the ground one which has seed, seeding heads, occasional cake and oysters hell grit. The birds alternate between them when they like :)

If u have nuns, yellowrumps or chestnuts hang the long grass stms from the roof with a piece of wire or summat similar 'cause they luv running up and down the stens to get to the seeds - looks good too!!

I have the larger seed trays on the floor raised by ice cream containers as well as a smaller dish hanging off the wire about waist height for the more finicky finches, with my siskins all trays are from waist to shoulder height as they don't like going to ground. As for seeding grass I like to place it at different heights and peg most of it to wire all fruits and veg are placed along the front wire along side the water dishes. I like to spread the feeding stations around the flight as this allows no crowding around food.
