Hi everyone

Just went out the one of my aviarys today and found two baby gouldians dead on the floor. Both only a few hours old
One of my pairs was sitting and I guess the eggs hatched and the babies dumped out of the nest. Can people tell me why
Babies get dumped from the nest?
It was the pairs first clutch!
And no we don't have mice if anyone askes :)

Over zealous parents probably left the nest too fast taking youngins with them or cleaning nest a bit too vigorously ..First clutch means they be a bit dumb when it comes to being parents ...

Dont ever discount mice ..I did and lost a entire season of Musks because of it ...Wheres theres seed theres usually a meece somewhere in the shadows.

Hi venetta
When gouldians have there first clutch of young and there young birds
in most cases it is the cock bird that dumped the chicks out of the nest,
he wants to mate with the hen again he should settle down in the next
clutch good luck flavio.

I feel your pain, Ive had that happen just recently, saw it soon after they were tossed out and was able to put them back but to no avail. I managed to place them with gouldian fosters, but now I have to be on red alert when this pair next have eggs.
