Well it's a little over 2 months now that i have been feeding this green seed and i have gone through two containers out of 18.So if i use one and a bit containers a month i'm going to have more than enough left before the next harvest, pending on how many young are produced by then of coarse.
I have ten 3mtr long aviaries, with 1pr of finches in each (lessers or WB crimsons) they receive a level dessert spoon each a day mixed with my regular frozen spouted seed plus Passwells finch soft food.
Last week my first WBs fledged, with the lessers not far behind. This year the young look far more advanced and stronger,so having fed nothing different than last year other than green seed,it looks like i'm on a winner with it. Cheers Craig

Hi Craig,
I'm finding that I didn't need as many as I ordered as well...I have 13 pairs of Gould's with about 60 young so far...and I have used 3 containers...so I expect to go through about 6-7 by the time next year's breeding season comes around.

I to have noticed the size of clutches has been very good 5+...and the quality of the young has been very good...to me the seeds have paid for themeselves with the above plus the fact that I have only lost 3 young after fledging...and I have had several young that I thought would not make it when they first fledged (the runt's of the nest)...I always leave it to the parents to rear their young and will not interviene to save a fledgling.

It would be interesting to see how others have gone with the use of the green seeds.

Cheers
Paul

Hi All,

The feedback from many members regarding the WFM has been very positive with many Gouldian breeders getting great value from it.

Since the last order I have had many people contact me wanting more seed. Unfortunately I have not been able to help these people to date. However I decided to contact Wendy Lowe to see when the next crop is being harvested. She informs me that a crop of Red pannicum will be done in about 2-3 weeks. I am happy to organise a shipment if enough people need (want) red pannicum. So please PM me if you are interested.

For those who want the WFM for 2013 Wendy informs me that they will do another crop in Dec/Jan...so again if you are interested please PM me.

Whilst there is a bit of work involved in co-ordinating this process most of the freighting arrangements have already been set up so it should be easier each time this happens....and I know the benefit my Gouldians have enjoyed this year from the green seed so I am happy to help out other breeders if they feel their birds would benefit from the green seed.

Cheers
Paul
