I agree with you that people shouldn't be dogmatic or insist that someone should do what ever.
When ever I suggest something in stronger terms it is because it is backed up with facts or an opinion
gained from experience but it is still your decision.
People forget what works for you may not work for them and in reverse.
I have a strong personal opinion when it comes to medicating birds, too many jump in with advice and it is not backed up with experience.
Over medication can lead to some real disasters.
Diet, Your birds diet is based on common sense, simply it must be balanced and not too rich(could you eat McDonalds every day).Maybe an increase in protien if the birds have chicks.
These days there are far better bird breeders than I but the good bird breeders don't generally feed too much rich food sticking with lighty soaked seed
or seed that is just pipping, green food, maybe live food if required and a good balance of dry seed. This will rarely allow you birds to become over weight
It all comes down to listen to all, then work out any common points and concider them.Finaly you make the decision, don't follow blindly along.

EOrix, Thanks! Sent some Elenbee's greens and grains, as well as Elenbee's Clifton mix, over to my sister, and it is a hit with the birds. Guess, it is easy to get overwhelmed with lots of info and pushiness.
