My Red Faced Parrot finches are mid breeding at the moment. I noticed today one of them looks like its been somewhat scalped. Doesnt seem to be stressed in any way as far as I can see. It is eating fine and bathing etc. This group are new birds I brought from interstate (6) in a large aviary and different bloodlines to those I already have. None of my existing birds have ever been quite this rough during courtship. I certainly have had plucked neck and head feathers during the chase but not to this extent. Just wondering if this has been experienced by others.

Hi,
Some times this specie is very agreesive when matting, some much more, others less.
In my opinion, just be carefull, because if the cock is so much agressive, it may be agresive to the new born babys, so that it can matte again.
regards
Gustavo
