Dont know if salt will work but it certainly hasnt hurt any of my birds having it in the aviary .
Ive put copious amounts down to keep slugs at bay .
Im finding the Eucy mulch is drying out faster than other mulches and stays workable so even when wet it will rake over easy .

It actually gutted me having cocci in one of my aviaries Blujay . Id never had any disease before let alone one that deadly . Myzo is always good for advice without judgement , I hope Myzo knows how much he is valued here at AFF .

Thanks Deb & Blujay.
Honestly, the beauty of this forum is that we can have these sorts of discussions.
We don't all have to agree- in fact it's often more interesting when we don't- but we all learn a lot from the discussions themselves.
I would hate it if people felt intimidated and were too scared to ask a question or put forward a comment or opinion.
I am sure that all finchkeepers have learnt a lot from the various topics discussed on AFF- I know I have-and are more informed than many other birdkeepers.
Now, if we could only find a site that deals with other bird species and whose contributors share the same goodwill and knowledge as those on AFF....

Kitty litter on the floors also absorbs moisture and can be swept up and removed.

Went and bought some of the euch mulch today, about to put some aluminium flashing down around the edges of the avairy (the base is a bit wonky and so is my concreting job lol so there are a few small gaps where mice can fit through) then will put in the euch mulch.
