Hi TheFinchMan101,
As has been mentioned before...trap it and off to the pound....not even the cat lovers on this site can criticise you for taking that action.
The only problem is one cat out...another cat in...is it possible to have a night blind over the cage so the birds cannot be disturbed by such cats in the future...sounds like your dog will take care of things during the day....or is it possible to relocate your dog's kennel right next to the birds.
Hope you resolve the issue soon.
Cheers
Paul

Also, there's the actual trapping of said cat - I still have Matty's cat trap, and despite there being at least 3 cats in the yard at night on a regular basis, no catches as yet.

Yep, up till now we've been using wet cat food that comes in tins in various varieties. God, the smells enough to make you sick - don't know how cat people stand it.

Food for thought. IF you do take it to the council or animal welfare, they will only contact the owner if it has a Rego, tag or been micro chipped. Then the owner gets it back & it roams again. Back to square one. Yes, the milk & asprin does work

or bait a trap with sardines, once caught, take it for a trip, one way, permanant, if you know what I mean.

Yes but once they have to pay for it a few times may get the message, although I hate Cats, some people do the right thing, others well lets just say lead pills work well too, if owner not obliging....

Ill be installing an electric fence perimeter on and around my aviary. No more sleepless nights wondering which neighbourhood cat is stalking, climbing, scaring or harassing my finches. For a couple of hundred bucks id consider installing a unit on my properties perimeter also

Totally eliminate the problem. We shouldn't have to compromise for anything or anyone on our own properties!
