It is perfectly possible to keep Zebs without the population explosion. It just takes determination. Put them in an avairy with NO nests. Select those you wish to breed and put in a different location for breeding. I have been doing this for some time now and while I will not suggest that they do not breed well. At least it is now managable.

I have a facebook friend who has been lumbered with old birds and has tried forever to breed some young , I think this pair and her are made for each other .
I don't want finches up to the eyeballs and she desperately want to feel the success of breeding some herself .
Win Win if you ask me .

elferoz - there has been the odd "unplanned" parenting happen in the holding avairy. But it will deter the majority. And yes, the food bowl, the corner under the tile shading the water bowl, the corner with the quail. They are enterprising little devils.

Deb - glad you found a win win solution.

Deb,i thought your title - and zebbies - were giving a whole new meaning to the term "collective"

..
For the non Trekkies out there
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_of_Nine - the Borg "assimilated" all populations where ever they went, just like Deb's zebs
