Do you find your birds fly or flutter into the clear wall gomer??

I need to find a good thermomter to stick on the back wall, only one iv been able to find is a cheap $2 one from 2 dollar shop, mind you i havent made a huge effot to look for a good one. so is your light bulb at the bottom?

do u use a 40 watt?

yes, if you startle them they ficker against the glass.you should be able to get a themometre at a hardware shop.mine has two 40 w bulbs underneath in case one blows.

i have got one the same but is a lot older bout 20 yrs. but might have to replace it as the thermostat has broke i think or its the fitting for the globe. then also the glass that slides out has got a big crack in it but has been taped over. but it doesnt get much use anyway maybe once or twice a yr if that even between me dad and i.

Nice, My themometer cost $6 at a reptile shop. Has colour ban so you can tell the temp from a distance. Saves for startling them too much while checking on them.

Il have to keep a better eye out for a Good Themometer, Im guessing Bunnings should have them, they have neally everything. il check next time im there.

I'm currently on the lookout for some info to build myself a hospital cage. What do you think is best a wire front or a glass/perspex one? I one the glass perspex will retain the heat better .. but then I'm worried about air circulation. Any ideas ??

Here are a couple of topics about hospital cages. The first one was built by a member and her hubby and has a wire front

This one was bought by me second hand and has been refurbished. This one has a perspex front.

I will still have to make a change to mine as the only access into the cage is via the perspex front which slides across, not too much of an issue as I intend to use it indoors. However I feel a small door in the back to enable moving the bird, food and water in and out without the chance the bird may escape will be better.
