Couldn't fine a photo of a hospital cage here so I added mine for anyone who is interested.
Has been working well for 10 years. Has a 75watt red infrared spot lamp which I find works well in the south Australia.

hi will looks good but i would put some sort of cage over it though as that sort of globe can get very hot and will burn the birds. we use that sort of light for the reptiles at wotk and have to put a cage over it so the snakes dont wrap them self around it and get burnt
thanks chris

Well picked up,I didn't notice the wire guard not on. Yes you will need one for that globe as it is a nocturnal red light for reptiles and fairly hot. Dose a great job of bring up the body temp of your bird as mine is usually in a cold shed with the front fully open. The birds will camp right underneath the globe.
Saved a few finches with it but have learn that when the finch looks ready to release to give it another week with no heating. Anyone had the same experience?

Hospital cage looks great.

Where did you get the metal tray for the bottom?

i learnt never pre heat the cage before putting the bird in.always put the bird in then turn on the light.I killed a few learning that,as the sudden heat change put more stress on them.
Another thing dont expect the hospital cage to always save your bird as usaully by the time you notice your bird is sick.It has been sick for some time.

Made it myself Diane. Just bent up a sheet of galv. and added a handle.Allows you to change things without disturbing the sick bird.
I put down paper and kitty litter cross the bottom.

thanks for the tip gomer,

i brought a Hospital Cage last yr, havent had to use it yet, *touching wood* i did put a gould in there when i first got it as i was concerned any sick gouldians would fly into the glass/perspex material and hurt themselves, so i put him in to see what he would do and he keeped trying to fly through it, so i took the front off and installed wire. then put the front bak on.

much better now.
