No, those are regular Seagreens.

I would love to see a photo of the birds in question though. Sounds very interesting.

:)

Really? I was expecting something more different. Maybe I'm interpreting the photos wrongly somehow, but on my screen those look very similar to my Seagreens. Perhaps they are more blueish and the face is a little more subdued.

I had been fantasising about really blue birds with pale faces, from the description. :)

They dont look like the par blues I saw either. The face was not orange at all and the body had less green wash through the blue, but all in all, I think the colour of the face is the main way to tell the difference, its much lighter.

In an ancient topic,i did mention seeing royal blue backed redface with a red face at a dealers near PortMacquarie many years ago. These birds were in a very dark aviary covered in creepers and no or little access to sun light so i thought it was due to that. The dealer said that wasn't so as he picked the bluer backed birds out of the birds bought in by different breeders and set them up to breed.Anythings possible? I havent checked recently but I seem to remember the Erythrura site having pictures of bluer looking parrot finches but they could have been one of the other species. Even though the site cant be accessed normally you can get to the web archive via this link
http://web.archive.org/web/200902050754 ... ram.en.htm
after that you will have to search the different sections.
