I don't believe you can tell doublebars by looking at them (appearance) personally. Blackhearts maybe.
I just want to know if for both double bars and blackhearts if it's only the male that will do the mating call songs.
If it is then I have identified the singers already and won't need to pay for 6 DNA tests.

With your approach it maybe best to get your birds DNA'd
By the way there are no experts just learners who have a bit more experience.
I have always gone by the brown section above the beak, dark full colour cockbird
but then I always have a 50/50 chance of being correct

Correct. ..have seen different hens carry a sort of tune..never seen one dance and sing
