We got the heat here and are up for 44c thursday and friday ..funny enough the only birds of mine that are truly feeling the heat are the bourkes .
Finches seem to be OK with it , they have a lot of baths and are holding their beaks open a little but the bourkes are full on panting and holding out the wings .
Bottles of frozen water are on stand by to be put in with them , they look uncomfortable but old mate assures me thats how they keep cool and theres worse to come so better they get used to it (harsh ).
Anyhow lets hope it passes soon so the birds can have a reprieve from the heat , too much too soon.

Weird weather - it was only 24 here yesterday and rained last night.
This is very definately unseasonal weather.
Javas and gouldians going into a moult, so hopefully that won't put the Javas off their nest, and I will worry about getting Gouldian hens when it's all over.

Well nothing happened with my cordons and they have mated again and appear to be sitting on more eggs in a new nest.

Found 2 eggs on the floor on the aviary also and they had been eaten. No baby painteds either...ohwell guess its there first try!

Any ideas?
