Good on you saving the not-so-little-one. Boy you guys do have some big birds flying around. With BIGGER beaks. I am so used to little things or crows and the occasional Eagle/Buzzard. Hope all goes well. Sounds like s/he has already landed with its feather tails in cream and no longer cr@p!

No licence, that's good. One less problem to deal with. Tell hubby to keep handling and talking to "stinky" and in no time flat you will have a very quiet and chatty bird on your hands.

He has had him out this morning giving him some formula even though he is picking at food I kinda figure he would still be getting top ups from his feathered mum and the extra vitamins wont hurt him .
Ive been handling him more and getting used to that big beak , hes made no attempt to bite as yet . I think stinky will be going into the spare room today with heater on low and having a bath , its well and truly time for stinky to have a clean up , he is obviously not liking the gunk on his tail feathers and I think he may pull more of them out if it isnt cleaned up .
He seems to be doing well and as much as I dont want another bird and would happily take him back to Narromine and release him I think he is here to stay , Id worry too much now that he is becoming socialised as to whether he would survive and my other half has fallen for him .
Ill post some pics in a few days of a cleaner , fatter , happier little corella .

Had to make a very hard choice today after his bath .... his tail feathers were broken and there were blood filled stumps left behind , after much running around getting advice from parrot breeders and WIRES it was decided that he had to go to WIRES where he is in quaranteen till he sees the vets tomorrow.
He will be tested for beak and feather tomorrow .... we both sooked but it had to be done for the sake of our other parrots .
1 in 6 Cacataus ( cockies and corellas ) in Dubbo (wild birds ) have Beak and Feather most are found on the ground after rain in very dirty condition due to the feathers not having enough feather dust to keep the feathers waterproof , these are the conditions that we found Bubba in .
Another learning curve .

Well done Deb and hubby. You certainly couldnt have done any better in trying to give the bird the best care.
