OK so you are not going to beleive this .... My partner and I thought we would go for a drive to Narromine ( rain has us going stir crazy ) , pulled into the park which is flooded with bubbling water ( recycled , stinky , brown , slimy water ) and noticed a Sulphur Crested fussing about with a small Corella .
Hubby went to investigate and the poor thing is waterlogged , filthy and and just squat there with its beak wide open .
Of course he scooped it up and now its in the hospital box ( far away from my handreareds till I research psittacosis which I beleive larger cockatoo types are riddles with in places ).
So after an eye dropper or 2 of spark and water and a warm place to recover we will see what happens with this one . Yes its Bubba # 2 .

It looks healthy but is very skinny under the feathers , you can see its keel sticking out of its chest .

That beak looks for too small for a long billed to me. More handfeeding and TLC Deb and all should be well. You is a sucker for a bird in need. Maybe your blood should be bottled by the SPB. (Society for Preservation of Birds)

hmm, but red around face (not present on little) suggests maybe a hybrid of the two? you''re right about the beak.

He is up on the perch now and what a mess , his tail feathers and bum are so stained from sitting in the putrid water ....wonder if its possible to have been poisoned to some degree , the water was actually bubbling and stunk like methane and sewerage .

Well he made it through the night , havent seen him eat yet . So badly want to give him a bath hes not smelling too good today but probably not a good idea and that big beak is awfully threatening .
Am about to move him to a big cage , the hospital box was built for finches and small parrots . Now wheres those gardening gloves?

Deb, use a towel. It will be less stressful for the bird if you cover his face, and easier to hold by wrapping the towel around him so he can't open his wings.
