Not quite everywhere; I hadn't seen Jacky Winters here for more than twenty years until the last couple of years; I've been seeing them quite regularly, they seem to be making at least a local comeback. The hooded is long gone from here.Pictorella wrote:Unfortunately Tiaris this is happening everywhere with all the woodland robins on the east coast declining rapidily. Here in the Hunter, the Hooded, Flame and Scarlet Robins are of great concern with Jacky and Red-cap also dropping steadily.Tiaris wrote:We used to often see Jacky Winters around this area 20-30years ago. Usually perched on grey split hardwood fence posts around cow paddocks from which they would jump down to the ground to grab bugs. Haven't seen one for at least 15 years though sadly. Great little birds - wish they were still here. I blame rural/residential urban sprawl locally into previous rural areas & the increase in cat numbers which that brings.
