Sorry this photo isn't very good, but anyone have an idea what this seed is?

We found it amongst our grass which has a bright green patch of strange grass all of a sudden growing through it...
We also had this one growing behind out aviary, i'm assuming it's one of the millet types obviously?

the top one I am thinking french millet , the bottom one I am guessing red panicum form your finch seed ..would be smaller plants if its in the lawn and being mowed and not a good growing time at the moment i guess...Pete

I think you're spot-on Poitta. I tried to grow these in the Philippines and ended up with the same bonsaied plants as these. I think that they flower in response to short/ening days and here in Australia need to be planted in spring so that a decent sized plant develops before the days start shortening on December 22.
