Ok other half picked me up this little gadget from Bunnings and I gotta say Im impressed . For a small hobbyist it will give you plenty of shot seed or sprouts for your birds .

$20 retail price and they sell seeds by Mrs Fothergills which although sprout in a day so are fresh are quite expensive so buying seeds elsewhere would be a good idea .

Easy to use just change the water a couple of times a day and thats it .

Just sharing

Looks OK Deb  I don't think it would be big enough for me though.

Roughly 1 cup each layer depending on the seed used .
Its really only going to suit a person with a smaller number of birds .
Its not really enough for all mine but with the green seed heads I pick from the garden and boiled eggs I can rotate and everyone gets a bit of everything on different days .

Going to bump up an old thread here... Have you continued with the sprouter Deb? I saw these advertised in a Bunnings catalogue today and thought they may be worth a crack, though I think I will need a couple, maybe more, to make sure everyone gets their fill. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the best (fast growing, nutritious being the main factors) sprouted seed would be for my collection? Should be able to see what species I have in my signature below.
Thanks!

I sprout the same seeds as in my finch mix, mix together, add min supplement and freeze 4 months supply at a time, feed out daily with soft food cake and green seed, nothing left at the end of the day.
Cheers

I just use two coke-bottle soakers, they eat it all by lunch so I must be doing something right

Yes still cracking away at it , good little unit that produces a surprisingly large amount for its size . Easy peasy I just change the water every time I go into the kitchen ...pout in the top , tip out at the bottom .

What seed are you using Deb. I picked one up last week as it looked so lonely on the shelf and Wendy's credit card was feeling ignored. Can you use finch mix in it and get good results??
