New classified website for pets

Hi everyone,

I posted a sale add on petlink and then received an email from http://petbase.com.au/ saying they have posted my add on their new website.

A little bit creepy but on viewing the site it looks pretty good and much easier to find stuff than Petlink.

This also happened to me today,it was an auto response.
Do you or anyone know anything about the site.

Same happened to me a few weeks ago and I checked briefly and then let my add flow through to petbase. On the surface the petbase site looks to be fine but I was unable to find a physical address or phone number for them which I always find annoying. A Whois query indicates the domain was registered by Adrian Mcphee from an Aussie company called Sonusoft (which seems to be legit). They operate this site http://localnote.com.au/. Also I'm not comfortable with the ethics of harvesting adds from other sites. They'll also need an actual person with some bird knowledge to read the adds as there seems to be quite a few of those crappy hyacinth macaw/african greys for $20 style adds appearing and remaining on the site.

Also, if it's petlink's site why are so many ads one one and not the other?

If this is a recent thing it is possible this is a ploy to get people aware of the site. And that in time as they grow and become better known they will stop filching adds from other sites. And hopefully do a better check on their adds including the filtched ones.

I suspect there's no link between petlink and petbase and no real person is transcribing adds. Petbase software is reading the petlink adds, extracting the email addresses, sending an email asking to post the add on petbase and then posting the add. The software isn't clever enough to resolve all possible problems - particularly with regard to location and $20 hyacinth macaws.

May prove to be a problem when selling well educated primates.
The finch category also looks promising until you realise only one add appears yet there are numerous finch adds (including mine and other AFFers).
