Have recently had 5 gouldians come out of their nest only to find one is completely white with green/grey feathers on it's back. Can anyone help explain what this is?
Parents are RH Purple breast male, OH Purple breast female.

Can you explain if the adults are normal looking or have white bibs or yellow feathers in the back of the head,if they have they are split Australian yellows. If they haven't they could be be split Australian Dilutes. Craig

I have had something similar. Have a look at the photo in my thread "What am I?" in the Australian Finches - gouldian forum, your fledgeling sounds like what I got too.

The only thing different with the parent birds are the female has a white patch under her bottom beak and her purple breast is very light. I am quite sure her mother was a BH White breasted green backed goudian and a OH (yellow) Purple Breasted Male.

Hi Clarissa, your birds are like our fledglings (but yours seem a little lighter) and the feedback I had is that they are australian yellows. :-) Very pretty fledgelings.

Thanks but how amazing to get one out of five babies to be like this when the rest are normal.
