Hello - very new to Aussie Finch Forum - enjoying the read. After many years of doing without, I'm about to purchase a flight cage and a pair of finches (have read elsewhere re cage size, etc - thank you). I'm in NSW, and I know that in Vic it's necessary to either register or hold a license for certain finch species - is that also a requirement for NSW? Is there a list I can access? Is it a simple procedure?
I'm looking at a pair of Gouldians or Double-bars, but it would be good to know if I'm tempted to look at other species. I did keep a number of species many many years ago.
Cage - I'm hoping to find something around 120cm long, 80cm high, 60cm wide - does this sound reasonable for a pair? Any ideas where to find one?
Thanks & cheers.

Yes you do need a Lic in NSW not for goulds but you will for D'Bars Google NPWS NSW and you will find all you need to know

Most of the NSW requirements can be found in the Legal Requirements & Legislation Section

Welcome to the forum. Use the link Buzz has given and you will learn what you have to do re licencing. The size cage you mentioned will be fine for a pair of Gouldians. For Double Bars I for one would keep them in an avairy of at least 2m length, as they are very active little birds. And the advantage of an avairy is you can keep both the Gouldians and Double Bars together.
Get your avairy and licence, then a pair of each type of finch and you are on your way to being a real addict like the rest of us. Good luck.

Thanks for this advice - I'm restricted to the cage (versus aviary) - apartment living! I'll opt for Gouldians for now. Already an addict, so wouldn't be surprised if I wire in the whole apartment one day ;)
