Are my cordons too small?

Hey everyone. I got a pair of cordons from a Sydney breeder on the weekend and i got them home and have them inside acclimatising to the cold here and they seem tiny, like really small than my other cordons... i didnt ask the breeder how old they were but i am assuming they are young , but i will call him today and ask anyway..but my question is shouldnt birds be more or less the same size across the board? They dont seem thin or anything like that either, plus they are fully colured up...should age play a part in their size?

There shouldn't be too much variation within a species, no... Any chance of a picture? Obviously not now, but in the morning

Size variations in Zebras and Gouldians which have been bred for showing do vary a lot, but most other species (I have noticed at least) are fairly regular.

I tend to think that there is a fair bit of size variation in most species including Cordons. They do get a slightly bigger with age - more of a middle-aged spread rather than getting longer in the body. The main features I select for in my Cordons are a large red cheek patch on males and strong blue colour particularly in hens. Too big in the body could possibly indicate some Bluecap genes especially if combined with a longer tail & pinker bill, as could smallish cheek patches in the same bird, but the overwhelming majority of captive Cordons in Australia are pure.

Well i have actually been studying them and it looks to me the female is more of a standard size and the male is much smaller-i hcould take a photo but i have a problem with this new computer in downsizing everything so it may take a while..but in the meantime i am looking for another pair of cordons or maybe just a cock bird-this breeder only had the one pair and no spare cockbirds-i will actually post that ont he wanted section...thank u .
