Went and candled the 4 eggs in the nest of my bh/pc/gb cock and bh/pc/gb hen and all 4 eggs have little veins and hearts pumping away in them. This will be the second clutch for these two this year. First clucth was one, and they adopted one that i found thrown out of the nest of my rh/pc/gb pair. So fingers crossed they do just as great a job this time around.

Cheers everyone, it is so enjoyable to be able to take my little gilr* in the aviary with me and do things like this. I think she gets just as much enjoyment out of it as me, well the stories get told at day care anyway for news haha.

Good job.
Shaun, there's been really cold nights at my place recently (and you're close to me) - too cold for gouldian chicks at the 9/10 day mark I suspect. Is the nest in a warm spot or can you apply some artificial heat?

Im very lucky, the nest is very well protected and in resonably warmish part of the aviary. I dont use artificial heating so have spent a fair bit of time and effort into making sure i can ensure the most retention of warmth possible. I was worried early last week and wasnt sure they would get through the cold mornings this week, but when i checked them today they are looking wonderful, coming along very nicely.
