Patrick are you specifically after people that specialise in gouldians or people that have some and breed them as well. What is your intent and I can try and push you in the right direction.
Cheers

I am interested in people who specialise in gouldians in the first place. Breeders that breed their gouldians to a standard, although as far as I know there is no real standard in QLD or AUstralia, and bring their birds to shows. Here in Belgium and The Netherlands we almost always breed in cabinet cages with at least 10 tot 12 pairs (no mutations, just naturals) to be able to breed only very good birds. There are a lot of things we have to take into account to breed birds up to the set (show)standard.
My intention is to reach a good standard en maintain that standard in my stock (naturals), using the Belgian/Dutch show standard. It is not especially my intention to do shows. I just like the pleasure that comes with breeding good standard birds. I just think that if you are breeding birds you can just as well do it properly. I promised myself I'd only start breeding birds in Cairns wen I can find breeders with good birds. To get my birds here in Belgium I sometimes drove 800 km to buy only 3 or 4 birds, a bit more expensive, but from really good stock and the best breeders in Belgium and The Netherlands or even the European champion. I always wanted to see how the breeders bred their birds, meat the man behind the bird, what their bird room looked like and see all their birds thay kept for themselves. This of course will be almost impossible in Australia. I know that there aren't many gouldian breeders in Cairns.
When I have established a good flock of birds on which I can always rely standard wise, I might start breeding Blue gouldians as well, but this is the far future. It will already be hard enough and take long enough to get to my first goal.
So, Trilobite, if you can push me in the right direction, that wuld be welcome!
Thanks for answering my message.
Cheers,
Patrick

Thanks, nxe04d! I have visisted Pete's website several times. I like the way Pete shares information about his breeding season(s). There aren't many websites around from/on gouldian breeders. It's always nice to back to it. It's a bit like an aviary visit. I'd like to do the same in a couple of years: build a website about breeding gouldians.nxe04d wrote:Hi pdg try this link and contact Pete http://www.gouldians.bigpondhosting.com
