Can anyone shed some light on this behaviour??
I put my cut throats out in the new aviary yesterday ( both male ), to see how they fared overnight before putting out the other finch species with them.
So this morning i put out the others. And witnessed this very strange behaviour......
One of the cut throats went to one of the large cane nest baskets, called over his friend, then they both hopped in the basket and proceeded to roll around inside it amoungst the feathers..........
At first i thought they were fighting, but after them doing this on and off for a while it looked more like play ???
Then one will go in there by himself and just do somersaults in the feathers. Then the other one will join him.
I have taken some photos, which i will add to this post later when i have the time to sit and download them.

What flooring does the aviary have? The action itself sounds like dust bathing to me, but for it to happen in feathers in a next basket??? Weird.
