Recently I posted a query regarding worms. I managed to find another sample so I decided to take the sample down to my local vet for analysis. (You guys are having an effect on me). To my disgust the vet wasn't interested and suggested I worm my birds (already done). They could send the sample away if I really wanted to but seemed that was a bit of a hazzle for a bird. From my understanding, reading our forum members, a microscope and some knowledge of what to look for(a vet) would confirm whether or not there was a worm problem. My thanks goes to Mad ozzie, Myzomela, crocnshas and Misso for yor suggestions. You guys have been of more help than my vet!! There may not be a problem, it might just be birds sitting on a nest for extreme periods of time and relieving oneself away from the nest to avoid attracting predators. Maybe a microscope and Danny's book for christmas.

If you put your location on with your Avatar people might know of a good local vet they can direct you to. Best of luck.

Hi Murf,
I'm sorry that your experience was such a bad one.
In future I would try someone else!
As finchbreeder suggests, if you let us know where you live (approximately) hopefully we can suggest someone who can help you.

Thanks, I went to the Portland Vets (south-west Vic). All my previous dealings with farm animals had been elsewhere and always had great co-operation with the Vets. Perhaps country vets are too tied up for "small" animals as farm work is a very hectic lifestyle. Perhaps this is the wake-up call I need to delve deeper in aviculture- a bit like farming. pulling calves, AI cows, drenching........

Murf mail a piece of paper with poop on it to Colin Walker at Melbourne Bird Vets in Wantirna. Colin's a top bloke and very reasonably priced. He's used to getting poop in the mail   .

I totally agree with Natamambo.
If there's anything wrong in your bird's droppings, Colin will find it. And yes, he's a great bloke to boot
