Have just fledged 3 and the hen is back down.
Because they are in with other finches they shared their diet, soaked seed, leb cucumber, live food (maggots, mealworms)
and they loved corn on the cob.I also put out a small dish of soaked canola / canary seed and egg & biscuit like you do
for canaries. For greens they have silverbeet, milk thistle and seeding grass when it's about.
I had a dish of niger and sunflower kernels on offer,so basically they ate most things.Aldi sells sunflower kernels,
give them a light crush.

Awesome!

Thanks guys for all the advice! Im only eleven now and this is my first year with Red Siskins. They're going well. The hen is sitting fine and the cock is looking good! When or if the eggs hatch do I ring them with plastic rings or Aluminium rings?

Thanks Jack :D

Well I am only thrice your age and am yet to get a clutch out of my siskins

Good on you guys for the effort and getting a good result.

I think the diet you have for your birds is helping 200%

Mine share an aviary with other birds that beat them to the good food.

In saying that though my cock bird only just fully coloured up..

Hopefully I can continue with some siskin success.

Joofler, I did not even look in the nest never mind putting rings on them. You can put plastic rings on them when fully fledged.

Wow, how exciting! Red siskins are on my wish list when we get back into finches and have the time to focus more on birds. The are so striking! Good luck with your clutch.
