There's another story about this episodic natural wonder on the ABC's site today. It's awesome to see - except if you're a commercial millet farmer but they're few and far between in central Australia
Its been good and we had 40mm a few weeks ago so the birds look like hanging around for a bit longer. I would probably see several hundred budgies everyday at work and i have seen flocks flying in while i was out bush a month or so ago, small flocks of several hundred budgies were constantly going overhead for 2 hours i would estimate we saw over 100,000- 200,000 birds that morning.By far the most budgies in the twenty years ive lived here. They are even roosting in large gums around town so you dont have to go far to see them at the moment. If we get a bit more rain now that will be 3 bumper seasons fo the budgies.
