I bought some Vetafarm Finch Crumble when I bought the birds. They were fed seed in the store so I kept them on that and some greens until this weekend to let them settle in. This morning I added a saucer of crumble on the floor of the aviary. Took them a while but by the afternoon it was a feeding frenzy. I plan to keep them on seed as their staple diet but treat them with greens or crumble every other day. Is this a reasonable feeding strategy?

Use it daily if you are going to use it. It's a great product. As a balanced diet it should be used consistently to correct the inadequacies of seed.

its good for a suppliment, I dont use it as I only use egg and buscuit and home made soft food, it can be hard at times to get some birds to take new things. You will find if you have canary 's or redface parrot finches they will eat pretty much anything. If you have trouble getting them to take some foods mix it with a bit of seed... pete

I have in my aviary a dish with chicken starter, last time when I bred I used turkey starter, but this time I couldn't find turkey starter without a Coccidiosis medicine in it, so I am trying the chicken one this time, I also sprinkle some over the seed.
