Have a pair of stars that fledged 2 chicks a few months ago, they were great first time parents and the chicks look amazing. A while later i noticed them in and out of the ruddie nest then back into their own nest where they were sitting on 2 eggs. My ruddies hatched 2 eggs but after about a week they deserted the nest, i noticed one of the chicks much larger then the other, and thought maybe it was a star chick, and decided to put the 2 abandoned chicks in with the stars sitting on the 2 eggs (big gamble i know). The stars raised the 2 abandoned chicks ( a star ans a ruddie) as well as hatching and fledging the 2 eggs. The chicks have all now been separated from the parents and im giving them some well earned rest i think.

I've bred a couple of accidental Star/Ruddy hybrids in years gone by & seen a few others so just keep an eye on how they mature.

Sounds like a good pair. I would definately label them as keepers. Congratulations to you and them.
