Well I got some pure normal Goulds shipped last week (just got home from work) They left Lismore at 9am, Arrived Sydney 10.40am, Then waited for flight to Brisbane arrived 2.15pm waited again till flight to Bundaberg arrived 4.55pm...It was hot and seller informed me no water or moisture containing foods in box...I was stressing all day thinking I will have a carry box full of dead Goulds....surprisingly they arrived extremely fit and healthy (tough birds these Goulds) put them in quarantine avairy and one male started displaying to females straight away  suffice to say it has been very hot while I have been at work and they are doing very well...

yeah same rules here but I figure whos gonna stick there hands in a dark box containing conures so mine get sent with bottle brush under which I hide apple and a plastic cup with under a half inch of water ( attached to the box ).
Why ?
2 out of 3 recent trips Dubbo to Brisbane has seen my birds not put onto the connecting flight and a 5 hour delay .

Of course this was before the 40 plus heat which I wouldnt send a bird .

Just clinched a deal for some birds today. Guy came home to find about 15 dead birds from the unexpected 40+ degrees in Sydney. I don't know if this belongs here or under hot weather thread. Oh well...
Anyway, poor fella lost birds and I just missed getting some. Lucky for me, not for him or the poor birds...

Its not that hard to put a small water container or piece of Leb cucumber in a freight box no matter what the weather. I cut the top off a foam cup & put cottonwool inside covered with water & double-sided tape it into a corner + seed scattered onto the floor of box. No matter how much you plan or book the flight/connections, you can never be certain its going to pan out as planned so just include the basic necessities - always.

Totally agree thats why I was so stressed when he said no water in box or anything other then seed, I thought all day in cramped conditions in 38c heat wow I was certain they would be dead on arrival....lucky for them and me they were full of vigour..

I actually drilled the AAE fella about what happens with the birds during transit .
They are for most of the trip in air conditioning or in temperature controlled areas , the only time they are vulnerable is when they are being loaded and unloaded .....
Still I always worry about them when I freight or have birds freighted in .
