Hi All,
I have a silver WB hen whom has started to struggle to find the perch when flying. She eats well and and looks healthy.
Not egg bound as far as I can tell. She is in a mobile aviary with a cock and gets sun light but not direct sun.
She started off with 1 dark wing feather but after having a split AY SF cock off spring last season, she moulted with dark patches everywhere, so she is my prize bird and I would be devastated if she died before more young.
Has any one got any suggestions of things to try or is she just genetically flawed and going blind.
Thanks
Jason

Hi Jason,i'm no Vet but i will give it ago.For a start, what are you feeding them?have you caught it up and checked how fat the bird is or that its not egg bound.
With a genetic combination it's got there are flaws, even the best gouldian breeders are struggling to keep that mutation on the perch but are exceeding, the list can can go on and on but my suggestion would be to put it some where warm with just plain seed and water and leave it alone for a few days. Thanks Craig.
She is definitely not egg bound and is on greens and grains, sprouted seed and plain seed plus the occasional silver beat leaf. Fresh water every day with Spark and multivitamins. She is in a low stress cage and doesn't seem to be getting worse, which is good.
I ill just have to see how she goes and hope for the best.

if she is off colour...you need heat first then the rest you are giving her....when ill birds loose there heat very quickly, so a hospital cage is a must..
