Hey all i have a ruddy cock bird that is always in the feed dish. This is concern to me he looks a little on the chubby side and i think this could be a sign they need worming. Has anyone had this happen before ?

Birds always in the feed bowl, but losing weight, could be a sign of yeast infection - candidiasis. Occurs when Candida yeast gets out of control in the gut and essentially inactivates the function of the gut. However you mention that the Ruddy is fat, so perhaps it is just greedy!

Is he fat, or fluffed? If he's fat, I wouldn't be too worried - he's probably just a guts  . But if he's underweight and fluffed, you may have a problem.

Tend to agree with this comment...are wings dropped? does he suddenly seem less fat when you get too close? I think I would put him in a hospital cage and see if he looks unfluffed with heat....then get droppings and check for illness..
