Ive trialled green seed that i have growing in pots (jap millet , panorama , red panicum ) since reading the post and my lot go bananas over it .
Funny as ive ever only fed the seed heads when fully ripened and never thought to try it at the milk seed stage
Have to say im a little envious of our East coast counterparts ... it feels like we are in a different country in WA !!
no you cannot bring the green seed into WA.It's not only the seed that is the problem,it's the frozen insects in it also.
and the rest of the East coast ! Ray and Wendy put a lot of time/money into pursuading a local seed grower to harvest his seed at milk stage,so with their knowledge and their knowhow i'm sure you could find someone who grows white french millet in WA to give it a go.You will need to organize it through a major club/society to make it viable for the grower,or as i said earlier,grow your own and harvest it at green stage and freeze it. We need a dedicated grass seed supplier and green seed harvest I reckon .
