Its funny but a bird im finding hard to get in the last couple of years is the common society or manican finch,those little bath loving fellows that are brown or fawn with white patchs.I have always loved them but gee they are hard to get these days in inner sydney..zebs are still common but the societys are getting hard to find.
I wanted to find 5 pairs or so and have tried 5 bird shops all havnt got and have no idea when they may get some if ever.I see them every now and then on Gumtree but as a non driver usualy not where I can get to
I remember when they were realy common in bird shops ,its odd
perhaps they were just to cheap to bother breeding but its a shame

I don't know where in Sydney you live, but I would suggest getting over to St.Ives Showground tomorrow for the Manly Warringah Avicultural Society annual show. I undrestand there will be a number of birds on exhibition, and may be the best place to contact breeders and buy some birds.
