Currently Victorians pay $68.80 for a basic wildlife licence. This could change to $83.30 if the proposed alterations go ahead. I'd be interested to hear what the licence costs are in other states.

In WA the basic licence cost $10 for one year, for an advance that covers the harder to keep and softbills is $30 per year and a declared bird lic is free that covers most of the exotics that are allowed be kept in the backward state...Pete

And double the basic licence for an advanced licence, but being a pensioner my advanced licence cost is the same as the basic licence, but in saying that it looks like we are being ripped off compared to other states. :wtf: Craig

wow that is cheap in the other states but I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) that in the other states they have separate bird and reptile licences whereas in Vic the oe licence covers birds, reptiles and mammals.... I might be wrong but I know the NSW licences are also much more restrictive.

Murf,

We may pay more for our annual licence but, we pay nothing for import/exports permits which they do pay for in NSW.
They also pay for movement req's in Qld, another thing we don't pay for.

Needs to be added into the equation.

Thanks guys. Good point Alf63. Please don't inform our bird Department though! Following up from that, I assume people in NSW add that $30 price onto the advertised price. Throw transport costs onto that and the Victorians are certainly being encouraged to "shop locally."
